Shipwreck of the SS Sapona Bimini Bahamas

Shipwreck of the SS Sapona

The 1929 ship (Bimini, Bahamas) was destroyed during a hurricane. Being only 50 miles from the shore of Florida, USA fighter planes used her for target practice missions during World War II. Once day 5 fighters left Florida on a clear sunny day on the training mission but were never returned. The next day a military search and rescue plan left to investigate, also never to return.

This is where the myth of the Bermuda triangle started!
