Spirit Bear Portrait is an image that I was experimenting by aggressively using graduated filters in Lightroom and its new mask feature, to create a portrait of the spirit bear that focuses the view on the gesture (expression) of the bear. I was not sure of the resulting image, so I asked for my wife’s opinion. She loved it! Saying that the look in the bear’s eyes was very powerful. Well, I have learned over the years (33 years together this summer) to not doubt her advice. So I posted it on my Instagram account, and yet again I doubted myself, but the image was very popular and received a much greater share of like and comments to my normal images.
